Well I finally got fed up with ubuntu, after using it for a year & 1/2 and seeing get better and worse, I threw in he towel, downloaded Fedora 7 got it up and running
Was a small learning curve.. instead of using sudo I am using su – , which I was racking my brain trying to figure out how to install things like ndiswrapper, that requires the use of the command ndiswrapper -i, etc.. so I ended up pointing directly to the installed file.
Installing codecs was pretty straight forward using http://rpm.livna.org/rlowiki/
I was most impressed on how the default Ati 200m video drivers worked, in ubuntu they were always something less to be desired, so I would always install the ones supplied by Ati.. well up until fiesty anyway, and I could never get them installed quite right.
Now after that I decided to install on my desktop, everything went smooth, the default drivers for the Ati x1900gt are pretty poor well its (vesa) , I wont bother installing new drivers till I get my monitor replaced (Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930SB) which is dieing .. its kind of looking at 40hertz jittering (very painfull).. I have had my eye on this NEC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824002133 for awhile now.
